Each year, Forbes Magazine lists the top 30 people under the age of 30 who have reached notable success in their chosen field. Elika Bergelson, a research assistant professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, was selected for the 2015 list for her work on the development of language in infants.

Khalil Gibran Muhammad will deliver the University's 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address. Muhammad is author of Condemnation of Blackness: Race, Crime and the Making of Modern Urban America, in which he explored the roots of the popular conception of black criminality in America.

An interdisciplinary team of University neuroscientists and neurosurgeons has used a new imaging technique to show how the human brain heals itself in just a few weeks following surgical removal of a brain tumor.

The University is again sponsoring the annual FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament, in which the top 36 regional teams of six- through 16-year-olds will compete to design and build robots that can turn doorknobs, shoot soccer balls, or complete an obstacle course.

Stacey Fisher, assistant director for Wilson Commons student activities, was recently awarded the Joseph H. Benedict Award by the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), an international organization for university union and student activities professionals.

A new study shows for the first time that playing action video games improves not just the skills taught in the game, but learning capabilities more generally.

Trustee Cathy Minehan and her husband, Jerry Corrigan, have committed an additional $1 million to support the scholarship they established in 2004. The scholarship provides assistance for students in the School of Arts & Sciences with significant financial need, and preference is given to underrepresented minorities, athletes in good academic standing, and those pursuing research in the social sciences.

There has been a 50% increase in the number of veteran students enrolled at the University since 2010. To better serve those students, and the family members of veterans, the University will celebrate the opening of the new Veteran and Military Family Services Office this Veterans Day.

The Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies will host Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck for a screening and discussion of his film, Fatal Assistance.

The Intercultural Center has been named to honor alumnus, dean, and University leader Paul J. Burgett. Earlier this month, the Board of Trustees paid tribute to Burgett ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™68E, ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™72E (MA), ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™76E (PhD), by naming the center on the occasion of his 50th year at the University.

In acknowledgement of their contributions to undergraduate education, professors Julie Bentley, Jeffrey Tucker, and Jonathan Pakianathan were honored with the University's 2014 Goergen Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Sam Gemar will be coming to campus to give a brief public lecture about the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) and his time with NASA. He will also present William Green '16 with a $10,000 scholarship on behalf of ASF.
