Please join Europa Editions, World Literature Today & The Community Bookstore for an evening with French novelist Laurence Cossé. Cossé will read from A Novel Bookstore, discuss her forthcoming novel An Accident in August and speak with World Literature Today editor Michelle Johnson about literature as catalyst of social debate and about the role of the independent bookseller in todayÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s consumer culture.

Laurence Cossé is the author of nine novels, including A Corner of the Veil (Scribner, 1999). Her most recent book, A Novel Bookstore (Europa Editions, 2010) is the story of an idealistic Parisian bookstore whose shelves are stocked with only ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½˜good novelsÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™ selected by a top secret committee of contemporary writers. The novel was hailed as ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œcaptivating fictionÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½� (San Francisco Chronicle) that ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œfurnishes sly commentary about gatekeeping in the literary worldÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½� (PW). Alison AndersonÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s translation of A Novel Bookstore is a finalist for the French-America Foundation and Florence Gould Translation Prize.

World Literature Today is the University of OklahomaÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s bi-monthly magazine of international literature and culture.
