This includes individuals that are internal to the institution (e.g., 糖心传媒 faculty\/staff\/students), as well as those who are external to the institution but are collaborating with 糖心传媒 researchers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internal research personnel are required to complete their human subject protection training through the University\u2019s affiliation with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/training\/required-human-subject-protection-training\/\">Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>External research personnel may complete human subject protection training as described below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Human Subject Protection (HSP) training is required for individuals engaged in the conduct of human subject research. HSP training is only meant to act as a baseline training requirement. Additional role and protocol-specific training are routinely required to ensure data integrity and compliance. Further training requirements, set forth by other components of the University's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/training\/hrpp-training\/\">Human Research Protection Program<\/a>, may also apply depending an individual's role and the nature of the research (e.g., HIPAA training, Good Clinical Practice training).","card_background_color":"#f4f4f4","card_hover_color":"transparent","card_link":"","card_hover_arrow":"","card_image":"","card_image_size":"","card_image_placement":"","card_image_hover_state":"hover_fade","card_image_link":""}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Individuals affiliated with another academic, healthcare, and\/or research organization<\/h2>","content":"When external research personnel collaborate with the University on human subject research <strong>and<\/strong> are affiliated with another academic, healthcare, or research institution\/organization (e.g., another academic medical center or another university), <strong>OHSP recommends that the individual complete HSP training in accordance with their affiliated institution\u2019s training requirements<\/strong>. Most of these types of institutions already have HSP training requirements in place.\r\n\r\nExternal research personnel <strong>do not need to duplicate training efforts<\/strong> and complete both the University\u2019s and their affiliated institution\u2019s HSP training.\r\n\r\nIn the rare event that an individual is affiliated with another academic, healthcare or research organization, and their affiliated institution does not have HSP training requirements in place, OHSP recommends that the individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/training\/required-human-subject-protection-training\/#register\">complete the training through the University\u2019s CITI subscription<\/a>.","background_color":"#f4f4f4","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"","css_class":"pb-0","title":"<h2>Community research partners<\/h2>","content":"External research personnel who collaborate with the University on human subject research and are <strong>not<\/strong> affiliated with an institution\/organization that has existing HSP training requirements such as individuals who are members of the community or are affiliated with a community-based organization\/agency can complete HSP training through either:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/training\/required-human-subject-protection-training\/#register\">University\u2019s CITI subscription<\/a>; or<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The University of Illinois Chicago\u2019s CIRTification training platform (see instructions below)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>CIRTificatIon training platform<\/h4>\r\nThe training offered through the CIRTification platform was developed specifically for Community Research Partners. The content reviewed within the training is similar, but not identical, to the content provided via CITI.\r\n\r\nBased on the differences in content described in CIRTification\u2019s <a class=\"u-link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/ccts.red.uic.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/569\/2019\/12\/CIRT-vs-CITI-Protection-Topic-Coverage.pdf\">content comparisons summary<\/a>, OHSP recommends that Community Research Partners complete HSP training via CIRTification when their role is limited to:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Recruitment, enrollment, consent, and\/or data collection activities in minimal risk research;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Recruitment and\/or minimal risk data collection activities in greater than minimal risk research; or<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Advisement activities related to study design and\/or the development of consent and recruitment materials, subject education\/instructional materials, or subject-completed measures (regardless of risk level).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>","background_color":"#ffffff","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"accordion_new","anchor_id":"","classes":"pt-0 pb-0","title":"","description":"","background":"plain","background_color":"#ffffff","style":"row_icons","expand":"no","accordions":[{"acf_fc_layout":"accordion","accordion_title":"CIRTification instructions","icon":"{\"style\":\"solid\",\"id\":\"list-check\",\"label\":\"List Check\",\"unicode\":\"f0ae\"}","row_content":"<ol>\r\n \t<li>Access the <a class=\"u-link-external\" href=\"http:\/\/training.ccts.uic.edu\/\">CIRTification training website<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li>Select the \u2018Register\u2019 option in the upper right corner and then select the \u2018I am not from UIC\u2019 option.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Complete the registration form. <strong>When asked to identify your site, select 糖心传媒 from the dropdown menu.<\/strong> Click \u2018Register\u2019 when complete.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Click the \u2018Course Catalog\u2019 option in the green box.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Select \u2018Learn More\u2019 in CIRTification description box and then select \u2018Enroll\u2019.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Complete the enrollment and demographic information and click \u2018Submit\u2019.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Following enrollment confirmation, select the \u2018My Courses\u2019 option in the upper right corner.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Select your language preference to initiate the course. The training platform will walk you through completing the training modules You may log in an out of the course as many times as you need to in order to complete the training.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Once the training has been completed, and you have passed the quiz at the end, the system will generate a certificate with a date of completion on it. Save a copy of this certificate as a PDF; a copy must be provided to your Principal Investigator. You can also log back in to the system at a later time with your email and password to obtain a copy of the completion certificate.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>","accordion_anchor":""}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"","css_class":"pt-45","title":"","content":"Alternatively, OHSP recommends that Community Research Partners complete HSP training via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/training\/required-human-subject-protection-training\/\">CITI<\/a> when their role involves:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Enrollment, eligibility verification, consent, and\/or greater than minimal risk data collection activities in greater than minimal risk research;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Research oversight responsibilities typically designated to a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Research oversight responsibilities related to the identification and management of study-related risks and\/or data and safety monitoring; or<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Research regulated by the Food &amp; Drug Administration.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>","background_color":"#ffffff","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Alternative HSP training for external research personnel<\/h2>","content":"In lieu of the training options described above, <a class=\"u-link-pdf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/ohsp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Policy_201_Education_Program.pdf\">OHSP policy<\/a> permits external research personnel to complete other formats of HSP training in order meet the training requirement, though this option should be used under very limited circumstances.
