University honors Student Employees of the Year

Annie Rosenow ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™22, a political science major, and Richard Koutouan ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™21S (MBA), a graduate student at the , are the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s Student Employees of the Year.

Rosenow, from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is a research and teaching assistant in the and was honored as the UniversityÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s undergraduate recipient.

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œAnnieÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s communication is exceptional,ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½� says Dan Alexander, an assistant professor. ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œFor course prep, she synthesizes large amounts of reference material to provide a clear narrative to structure the lecture. When my class went online last spring because of the pandemic, and I had to prerecord lectures because of childcare obligations, I asked Annie to join the lecture recording sessions with me.ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½�

Koutouan, from Chicago, is a Benet Career Peer at Simon, providing career search assistance and guidance to fellow MBA and MS students looking for full-time employment or internships. He is the UniversityÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s graduate student employee of the year.

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œRichardÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™s communication with students is straightforward, and I often see his ability to tailor his messaging and tone to specific situations,ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½� says MBA Career Director Ron Carlson. ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½œThe feedback I hear from students gives me the confidence to suggest they meet with him, knowing heÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½™ll recognize when to deliver a tough-love message and when to back off and allow a student to express frustration over a situation.ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½�

The awards are sponsored by the and announced during National Student Employment Week. The winners are chosen by a committee of nomination readers representing departments across the University. Eligible students must have worked at least six months during the 2020ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½“21 academic year and are judged on reliability, quality of work, initiative, and professionalism.
