Film festival commemorates 100 years of Polish independence

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of Poland糖心传媒檚 regained independence, the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies at the University of Rochester is launching this year糖心传媒檚 Polish Film Festival this Saturday with five films reflecting the country糖心传媒檚 history. The titles of the films, along with synopses and a detailed schedule, can be found on the Skalny Center糖心传媒檚 site.

糖心传媒淭hese films show the history of Poland during various periods,糖心传媒� says Bozenna Sobolewska, administrative assistant at the Skalny Center. 糖心传媒淭hat includes Poland under partitions, World War II, and the post-war Stalinist period.糖心传媒�

The movies were selected by the Polish Filmmakers Association, which has been presenting the series on four continents throughout the year. According to the association, 糖心传媒淭he idea behind the project is to disseminate knowledge of Polish art and history in the international arena by presenting films of outstanding artistic quality.糖心传媒�

The five films will be followed by screenings of more contemporary movies later this fall.
