2016: The year in pictures

As another calendar year comes to a close, we糖心传媒檙e looking back at 2016 through the lens of University photographer J. Adam Fenster. He糖心传媒檚 selected his top shots from the past year and offers his insights on what makes Rochester such a special place to photograph.

At this initial meeting, Seligman laid out ambitious plans for the council, including assessments and ongoing programming anticipated for faculty, students, and staff. As its initial act, the PDC voted unanimously to have Martin Luther King, Jr. Day recognized as a University holiday, commencing in 2018.

Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the nation for the liberal arts and sciences, turns 240 years old this month. In celebration, the University honors the 13 members of the Class of 2017 who were elected as juniors last May.

New prehistoric bird species discovered

A team of Rochester geologists has discovered a new species of bird in the Canadian Arctic. At approximately 90 million years old, the bird fossils are among the oldest avian records found in the northernmost latitude.

Wendi Heinzelman is officially installed as the first woman to serve as dean of the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. During the ceremony, Heinzelman talked about the importance of increasing the representation of women and under-represented minorities in engineering, and the goals of the Hajim School.
