This shows a list of published and unpublished pages on the current site. Under \u201cPages\u201d click \u201cAdd New.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Page title\r\n<\/strong>Enter the title of the new page where it says, \u201cAdd title\u201d. This title will display at the top of the page.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Permalink\r\n<\/strong>Once the title is entered, WordPress will generate a permalink. This is the URL which will be used to reach the page. The permalink can be edited by clicking \u201cEdit\u201d to the right of the current permalink.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>General area\r\n<\/strong>The next area is the general text area. This can be utilized to create simple web pages. If a page is going to be simply text, the text can be placed directly into this area. If additional functionality is required, the page content should be added in the component area later down the page.<\/p>\r\n<strong>Page attributes\r\n<\/strong>On the right side of the page is a box called \"Page Attributes.\" Here, there are a few important options for the page.\r\n\r\n<strong>Parent page\r\n<\/strong>On the right side of the page, in a box called \u201cPage Attributes,\u201d is the option to choose a parent page. Parent pages are pages that are more important or above the current page in hierarchy. If the page is a top-level page and has no parent, you may leave it set to \u201c(no parent.)\"","background_color":"#f4f4f4","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"page-template","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Page template<\/h2>","content":"Under \"page attributes\" in the top right side of the page is the option to choose a \"template\" for the page. The two options are \u201cFull Width\u201d or \u201cSidebar.\u201d Here is some more information about the two.\r\n\r\n<strong>Full width\r\n<\/strong>The Full Width template, as the name implies, will allow the content on the page to take up the full width of the page. This option is what pages will default to and is generally considered the standard.\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Sidebar\r\n<\/strong>If a page requires additional navigation for organizational purposes the sidebar is a great option. The sidebar template is useful for a page nested deeply in a site due to the expanded navigation capabilities. Displaying a sidebar menu will display a navigation menu on the left side of the page.<\/p>\r\nThe \u201cNarrow Width Content\u201d is the content that shows up next to the sidebar. If a sidebar is displayed, there are several ways to choose what links show on that menu.\r\n<h3><strong>Setting up a Sidebar Template<\/strong><\/h3>\r\nTo start setting up a page with the sidebar template, select \u201csidebar\u201d and then scroll down to the sidebar settings area. As mentioned before, the \u201cNarrow Width Content\u201d is the content that shows up next to the sidebar. Content can be added to this area using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/communications\/rochester-core-resources\/universal-fields\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">components<\/a>.\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the \u201csidebar menu\u201d dropdown under \u201csidebar navigation\u201d then select the option to display a sidebar or not. For the sidebar to be visible, choose \u201cYes, display a sidebar.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSidebar feed\u201d is how to determine what items will go into the sidebar field. The site can automatically create the menu based on the parent page by choosing \u201cautomated based on parent.\u201d The other option is to manually create the menu yourself by choosing \u201cselect menu.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From there, \u201cmenu select\u201d will give the option to choose a menu that's already been created. An alternative option is adding items under \u201cpage links.\u201d To add items, simply choose \u201cadd Row\u201d for as many menus as desired.<\/p>","background_color":"#ffffff","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"title","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Page title<\/h2>","content":"The page title section allows administrators to set the title of the page using text, images or video.\r\n\r\nA webpage's title serves as a concise, purposeful summary of the page\u2019s content, crafted with both users and search engines in mind. The title appears in browser tabs, search engine results, and social shares, making it a critical element for first impressions. The title should be intentionally written to be clear, relevant, and engaging, often incorporating keywords that reflect the page's subject matter to improve discoverability and ranking in search results. Ultimately, a well-crafted title helps orient visitors, sets expectations, and drives clicks by effectively communicating the value or topic of the page at a glance.\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are several fields that administrators can use to set the page title:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>overline<\/strong> text field is an optional display area where we can add text to display above the title on a single page.<\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>display title<\/strong> is where to add the main title of the page.<\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Underneath the main display title,\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">there is the option to add a\u00a0<strong>subtitle<\/strong>. Text can be added here, but make sure to keep this brief, as most of the page's content<\/span> should be displayed later in the body of the page.<\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>call to action<\/strong> creates a button to point users to additional resources or another page of. To add a call to action, choose \u201cselect link\u201d and the link pop up box will appear. Add any URL and add the text to be displayed in the button under \u201clink text.\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Display style: <\/strong>There are 3 different options for how to style the page header.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Text only:<\/strong> As the name implies, this option displays the text from the overline, display title, and subtitle fields.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>50\/50 text + image:<\/strong> The 50\/50 option divides the header in half with one side being an image and the other half the text.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Full width image\/video:<\/strong> To have an image or video take up the whole header, select the full width option.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<strong>Page title media type<\/strong>\r\nIf the \"50\/50\" or \"full width\" option is selected previously, the \"page title media type\" option will appear. Here there are three options for what to fill into the media area.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Images:<\/strong> A selection of up to three images can be added to the hero area. One of the three images will randomly be selected once the page is loaded. This offers variety to the visuals of the page. If only one image is added, that image will load every time.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Pattern:<\/strong> A pre-created pattern can be selected to help add visual interest to a page. Select from either the colorful or simple option to have the pattern shown in the page header.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Video:<\/strong> Adding a video to the header can bring a page to life. Choosing \"video\" will allow a video from the media library to be shown in the header.
